Dear List,

I noticed today that my clutch re-engages when the pedal is barely back up
off the floor. Maybe 1" only. Then, for the first time, the gears made a
still-relatively-gentle grinding sound as I tried to shift into reverse.
What is starting to go bad here? The clutch, the slave cylinder, or
(shudder) the transmission?
