Subject:tire OD affects odometer, was Re: Alternative Rims

yep, yep. If I read the thread correctly, you all are wondering if
different size wheel/tires affects odometer reading??

My Syncro used to read about 7% off with stock OEM 205/70-14 Michelins. I
put on 27x8.5-14 Yokohama Desert Duelers. OD is about 7% taller, and you
guessed it, the speedometer reads just about dead on now.

It's not the rim (per se) that affects the odometer, it's the OD of the
tire you put on your rim, relative to the stock tire/rim OD.

LARGER OD: spedometer will read slower than before.

SMALLER OD: Speedometer will read faster than before.
