Well removed the pressure plate today on the diesel to find that the pilot bearing was toast and it had also wrecked the clutch disk (made the springs loose) so I ordered a new disk and Throw-out bearing from Ron (pressure plate looks good) and now its time to wait. Pulled out the wiring diagrams for the Scirocco and the Vanagon and tried to mentally trace the wiring and see where I could tie the two systems together. It appears that I am going to need to set up a fuel pump and ignition relay like is in a normal Vanagon and then wire in the Hall unit in order to get the thing running. Some things I was wondering about: Can I use the Vanagon fuel pump? Am I going to need to put a fuel pressure accumulator in the fuel system? (I think I will) If so how have you guys done this? I didn't realize before that the thing that looks like a control box or ECU is actually just a Oxygen Sensor system for emissions. I can run the motor without this wired in, but I bet it is going to run like crap right? Anyway that is where I am at right now. Ken Wilford John 3:16
