Can't afford a Tesla at $50-60K, but can afford a conversion at $100K? He did say that he is hoping to get to a scale where he can get the price down to around $30K. But then we're dealing with a car with an old chassis/body, too. Maybe he'll get there. Meanwhile, new EVs (they're not all Teslas) can be a lot cheaper than what he is selling, if we can just get enough of them on the market. For now, I am still driving my 16 yo Prius. Building new vehicles has environmental costs, too, so he is right about that. I wonder, would converting an old hybrid be cheaper than converting an old pure IC vehicle? At any rate, I am all for getting into the EV future for the sake of us all.
