My horn ring on my 84 vanagon causes many embarrassing toots when driving around. I ordered two replacement horn rings (can't remember which VW/Vanagon mail order company.) Both rings causes the same toots. One of the mounting screws holding down the steering column switches is stripped. It has been stripped for several years. (I assume the previous owner may have caused this.) It is not obvious to me that the stripped machine screw is causing this problem. Any ideas how to fix the phantom horn?
