I'm in my 82 diesel at a camground and after having a tough time starting this morning, it suddenly refused to turn over. It seemed like the battery still had juice, so I suspected the ignition switch. I just tested jumping the big red wire to the red wire with black stripe on the ignition pigtail and it turns over. So I have a new ignition switch sitting at home. Perfect right? Is there any wisdom on making my broken one work enough to start? Or is it possible to actually hotwire it? My situation is made more complex as I need the glow plugs warm as well. Thanks for any advise!
