Dehler Yachts (If they are still in business) are a 'mid-tier' sailboat
company. Well made, good rep. but not "Gucci" like Nautor Swan or Nordic
or some of the other high-end 'production' boats. It's nice to see some
'yacht' touches in a Vanagon. I like the profile of the roof also...
I would love to do a complete Yacht-style Vanagon camper sometime. Yacht
interiors have many features that Vanagons should have, could have, if
someone wanted to pay for it. The way Vanagons are appreciating, it may
soon be a possibility that newbie owners will come along and want a high
quality yacht-style interior in them.
Unlike some of those ostentatious top of the line custom motor coaches,
yachts are usually pretty tastefully done. I saw a special TV show.."over
the top Motorcoachs"...(I made that up) showed some of those custom
coaches being assembled....Ugg! ...enough said about that.
I had a friend do a very nice slide-in cab-over camper, one of those
old style aluminum shell rounded ones, built like an Airstream. He
gutted it and started from scratch with marine quality mechanicals....
Cherry and Honduras Mahogany, Lexan, small Shipmate charcoal heater,
etc...He even did a teak and holly cabin sole inside...What a gorgeous
camper, just what he wanted, coming from Canada to spend winters on the
beach in Baja... He spent some a bit of time and money doing everything
just right...Have something to add on this topic today? Revive this thread in the forum »
