Hi all. I wrote a while back about a "clucking" noise in my transmission. At that time, I heard it in 1st and 2nd, but while recording noise today, barely heard it in 2nd. Audio clip is my '81 Westy coasting - under power - coasting in 1st, then briefly under power in 2nd. All downhill. On level road I go from coasting to under power in 1st. Sound goes away under power. http://tubanick.shawwebspace.ca/videos/view/tranny_test_1st2nd_gear/ Any opinions on what sound may be? As advised, I swapped the oil out to Redline MT. This *may* account for sound not being as apparent in 2nd gear. Transmission operates fine otherwise. Pic of metal found on plug at time of oil change: http://tinyurl.com/y8a4lzc Thanks Neil. -- Neil Nicholson '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ http://groups.google.com/group/vanagons-with-vw-inline-4-cylinder-gas-engines
