Every once in a while there's no useful alternative to a test
post.  There *is* a way to tell if the list is up and running -- I'll
describe that later, don't want to confuse you now.  Generally
speaking of course it's best if you try to contact a moderator first.

Not to worry.  If you'll forgive the timber in my eye I'll make short
work of that little splinter in yours. <g>
