Dear Family and Friends, You have received this request from me because I want to make a difference. I want to play a part in revitalizing the spirit of America. I just made a difference in the life of a child, a family, a community in America. You can too. Our greatest resource is our spirit, and a couple of friends of mine (and through this letter your friends) are taking that spirit and making it happen. They are the Kirwin family of Ventura Ca. Their story is at http://www.kirfaid.org/aboutus/ourstory.shtml . In short, they escaped death from the infamous tsunami while on a family vacation in Thailand. That vacation then became a relief effort on the spot. Upon returning to the USA, they set up Kirf International <http://www.kirfaid.org/> and for the last 4 years have been raising money (and spending a lot of there own) to help in communities stricken by disaster from New Orleans to India, Mexico to Central Africa and beyond. Now they are going to Washington DC, January 17th - 20th, 2009. Mark Kirwin <http://kirfaid.org/aboutus/who.shtml> said that instead of disaster relief, they would be there to help homeless children in the DC community with AIDS. He also said the Kirf relief fund was low but he would supplement that with his own money. So I decided I could do something by helping his charity. If you have not been to the site, I will tell you that there is No charity that is as effective as Kirf. Their 100% hands on policy gets 90% of All Donations directly to those in need, with what they need. Make one of your first important acts of 2009 be something for the greater whole, something for us as a people, something that will combine with the spirit of others to raise us all. I ask only two things: 1. A donation of $5 or $10 or $25 (but feel free to give more) at: http://ihcenter.org/groups/kirf.html 2. Spread the word, help this grass roots effort grow: Replace my name with yours in the subject line and pass this on to your family and friends, post it on your Facebook or Myspace page. Or just pass it on to one other person who will also pass it on. Thanks, H Scott Dempster Ventura, CA
