Don't know that this question has been asked before, but here it goes. I would consider increasing the ride height of my 90 GL in part because somewhere down the road I'll be sticking either a Zetec or a Subie in back. I have an entire Syncro suspension at my disposal(since it didn't sell on ebay) and was wondering what it would take to get the 2WD up in the air a little more. I DO NOT wish to have the AWD stuff or I would've kept all that too. I also don't want to do the air bladder thing inside the existing springs. 1. What makes the Syncro sit higher than the Vanagon? Is it just the springs or is it the entire suspension? 2. If it's okay to just add just the springs, will that change the suspension geometry to the point of doing harm to the rest of the parts, or can adjustments be made to the alignment and make things correct?. 3. If I bolt up the entire sub frame from the Syncro to the 2WD, will there be gas tank issues with no front diff in place? 4. Is there a difference between the rear control arms of the Syncro and the regular 2WD? 5. If I use the Syncro front hubs, will I need to either stick used outer CV joint housings in the splined holes and tighten them to 140 ft.lbs. to protect the bearings? Would simply adding a high grade bolt and thick washers do the same thing with regard to bearing protection? 6. Any chance of drilling through whatever I stick in there to house the speedo cable? 7. if the 2WD gas tank won't fit up front, will the Syncro tank still fit in the back with a 2WD tranny in there(I knida doubt that)./ thanks DM&FS ------------------------------------------------------------ + To unsubscribe from the Vanagon List send an e-mail to + listserv@gerry.vanagon.com with SIGNOFF VANAGON + in the body of the message. ------------------------------------------------------------
