As some of you may know i have been working on transplanting a 2.1L WBX DJ-code engine into my '84 Westy. I used every single piece of equipment from the DJ-code engine, from dual ECUs, wiring harness, catalytic converter, Stebro stainless muffler, full stainless exhaust, all the sensors, air box, air intake hoses, and the cooling system. Today I put it up to the challenge. The result: 8 seconds with 180lbs of kids on board. As a comparison the original 1.9L WBX did it in 11 seconds without the kids on the same section of the road. So... it's a 37% improvement. The engine offers so much more power anywhere in the power band. It will pull eagerly up to the rev limiter. You can see other tests here: http://www.knology.net/~vw/30-50challenge.htm According to the numbers this puts me inline with the GoWesty magical WBX engines. :-) -- Chris S.
