Subject:Re: sorry, i need a conversion kit to put a 1.8 or 2.0 golf engine in my 84 van

Likely goes without saying, but AFAIK, installing the 2.0 would
require using a 1.8 head for the 50* mount.

There are two lists for DIY I4's that I know of.

Mine:

http://groups.google.com/group/vanagons-with-vw-inline-4-cylinder-gas-engines

and a yahoo list:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Vanagon-VAG-EngConv/

A "DIY" VW gas I4 for less than $3000? Possibly. Especially if one
hears/sees it running first. (i.e. no hidden costs to get it running)

Running donor: less than $1000?
DV parts ~ 700 - 1000?
1.8 head + Digifant stuff $?
Exhaust ?

Neil.
