I'm installing a new 1.9 diesel long block into my 1.6TD Vanagon. Engine is on the bench, transmission is in the van. How can we set the timing without the tranny mated to the engine? Does anyone near SF have a spare diesel bellhousing I can borrow for a couple days? Or will a Jetta/Golf gas bell housing have any useful marks?
