On a Toyota diesel forum I'm a member of, someone in the US wants to
bring in a Toyota Hiace van. He doesn't know what to do. I suggested
bringing in a LHD van from South America, where they are sold
(possibly also M�xico). I mentioned that people are bringing VW T3s
in from Europe, though I couldn't remember any details.

Another member answered:

"Still have to go through a Registered Importer, that is if there is
a successful petition for the Hiace, LHD notwithstanding.  VW will
issue a "letter of compliance", unlike Toyota.  www.iltis.ca
(http://www.iltis.ca) brings in TDI Iltis in from Belgium..."

Can anyone shed any light?
