Speaking of Yakky racks, if you are looking for really stout crossbars at about 1/8th the price of those bendy bars that Yakima sells, look no further than your local gas pipe supply. Several years ago I bought 20' of 1.125" OD underground gas pipe for about $22. Making a 6ft crossbar about $6 instead of $39 or whatever Yakima is charging now. The gas pipe is twice the thickness of Yakima bars, is coated in heavy plastic (mine was yellow, your results may vary) since it lives underground, and is the correct OD to fit the Yakky mounts and accessories. You will break the mounts before you ever bend a section of this stuff. No idea what it costs now but its gotta be cheaper than Yakima.
