Joy,

Go to your gmail setting page and go to the Forwarding and POP tab. There is
a link to using POP with your gmail account.

Alternately, you could simply forward your gmail messages to your primary
account you use with Outlook.

I will say that I don't know why you would use outlook with your gmail
account. The gmail interface is really excellent for listserv use.

I'm trying to figure out how to get email sent to my gmail account to
automatically download when I hit "send and receive" in Microsoft outlook.
I've gone through the "add an email account" menus in outlook, and put in
the following things:

Type                                    HTTP - should it be POP?  I assume
not.
Email address:                          hecht.joy@gmail.com - that's my
gmail address
Username:                               it automatically filled in the gmail
address -
                                       should it just be "hecht.joy"?
HTTP mail service provider:     "other" - the options are "hotmail", "msn",
or
                                       "other"
Server URL:                             I tried "gmail.com" and I tried
                                       "http://mail.google.com"

In the "more settings" - "connection" - option I tried with "my LAN" and I
tried with "3rd party dialer."  Sometimes I dial in on a regular phone line,
sometimes I'm on someone else's wifi.  If I'm already connected, does it
make a difference what I have for this option?

In all cases I got this error:

Task 'Gmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error
(0x80070057) : 'An unknown error has occurred. Please save any existing work
and restart the program.'

Can anyone tell me how I should do this?
