This may not be that clever, but it works for me so I thought I'd pass it
along.  I filter my vanagon messages so messages with Re: in them go to
vanagon followup folder.  That way the initial post goes to my inbox and I
can see if any new interesting subjects come up .  Then I look at the
followup folder and usually just hit delete all or read selected followups
to the interesting post.  Saves a lot of time going through the messages.
