Kevin, i would consider NOT getting a more powerful wasserboxer. these are not time tested and true engines. I would wait until there are more data points on these engines. But even after 5K you stil have inferior head gaskets. So really, is it worth it? If want more juice, convert. It is a time, skill, patience and money sort of balance. If you have the first 3, then for ~1500 you could be running a jetta engine. good power, good speed, fast. reliable. well known engines. For about 2000 you could be running a mechanical tdi. if you want to stick with a wasserboxer: stick wtih avp or boston bob. i would avoid zs imports. check out his feedback on ebay: vanamania. that is my free knowledge of the ropes i've pulled -matthew (fresh off soloing a bunch of 50' drips) > Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2005 20:01:52 -0700 > From: "daniel hansen" > <kevin_likes_to_climb_much@hotmail.com> > Subject: Sources for waterboxers > > I'm looking for places that sell just engines. > I've spent about 3 hours and 7 different search > engines looking for a more > powerful waterboxer. > The best I can find is gowesty is selling a 2.4 L > longblock for about > $5,000. > Also zsimports has a 2.3 L longblock for about > $3,500. > Then there is the importmotor place sells a 2.3 L > longblock (Mastodon) for > $2,000. > That is about all I could find? > Are there any other engine distributors out there > that sell a more powerful > waterboxer? > Also are these engines stock or are they just > rebuilt, rebored, and used 2.1 > L? > Thanks > Kevin > 87 Syncro GL > 90 Carat ===== Matthew Pollard "Racing with the wind and flirting with death Dept.
