Subject:Dyno Day worth it's weight in gold for Boston Bob motor!!
From:Max Wellhouse

After a 2 month sit on a waiting list, I was able to get into the dyno bay
at Sublime Speed Technology in Omaha. Their time isn't cheap, but the
experience was a very positive one(except for the test that found my fuel
pump about to die!). Mike is the guru on the dyno, and this was a Mustang
brand dyno, FWIW. The computer setup was mind boggling as he not only
measured HP and torque, but the real reason to be there was to get the
Haltech brain tweaked for maximum performance and economy. The dyno is the
only way to go on this friends. What he did in 4 hours would've taken us a
month to do on the road. He likes full power loads to run about 13.2 on
the Air/Fuel ratio and no load closer to 14.5. Without a long boring step
by step, the Boston bob motor with the slight porting and mild cam, netted
a solid 106 ft/lb of torque at 2800 rpm and max wheel horsepower came in at
86 around 5000rpm. He made several full throttle runs in third gear and a
few going all the way to 5800 rpm(yeah, I was holding my breath when he got
over 5300!)

Mileage numbers will be monitored and reported on in the near future, but
getting all those Haltech programs working together was a big plus.

BTEW, I asked Mike what the most HP he'd ever read on his equipment and he
had a customer bring in a drag Mustang with 780 HP at the wheels. Maybe
that explains the box of ear plugs sitting on the computer table
