Volks,

I've become desperate regarding my auto trans. It hesitates going into
reverse,
and will not shift (unaided) from second to third. No one around here
(Moab, SE Utah)
will touch it. No one in Grand Junction (closest burg of any size) will
look at it except
AAMCO. It feels kind of  like going to Earl Schieb for a $29 paint job.

If anyone can give usable counsel or advice it would be greatly
appreciated. Could AAMCO
actually do the job? Could there possibly anyone on the list from CO
west slope that may
know of a mechanic?

Lastly, my real problem is my wife's Volvo 240. It's auto trans will not
go into
overdrive. She's ready to take it to SLC, rent a car and run up a BIG bill.
Could it be that the great wisdom of the list could provide the name of
a shop within
200 miles of Moab that could repair both trannies?

Any and all advice greatly appreciated. Will make an appointment with
AAMCO if all
else fails.
