Recently I have been experiencing a dull thumping noise on my 84 vanagon.
In the past I have always been able to trace it to the CV joints which after
replacement or repacking with new grease eliminated the noise.  This time
the noise did not go away.  My greatest fear is the transmission may be in
on its last leg. Has anyone had this expereience ?
