Here is what I found out. 1) The Pep Boys hose allows me to tighten the OEM VW hose clamps completely down to full stop travel. 2) The Goodyear hose is of a harder *durometer* rubber and the clamps can still be tigtened another four or five turns before they reach full stop. 3) Both are the same size hose and both have the same spec number on them. 4) Subtle difference in the hardness of the material they are manufactured from. I'm glad I spent the money and got the Goodyear hose ............... I'll just feel better. I know that all of Pep Boys store brand engine cleaners, alternate to LPS, alternate to WD40, alternate to Berryman B12 carb cleaner are pretty crummp products.
