It always seems that my "backup" lights (reversing lamps, Br.) are pitifully dim. Adding a 55W bulb will just melt the el-cheepo very expensive housings sooo...what if you mount some of those 55w 3" diameter fog lamps or at least one on the rear door. Now you have BACKOFF!!! lamps. 55W photon torpedos to annihilate the unwary. Turn em on and you can see something. kewl. Any of our esteemed vanagonauts (other than Joel) done such an installation? When you're finished you have those pesky former backup light locations now vacant in the taillight housings. They have lenses, reflectors and all the right stuff but alas they're clear lenses....wot ho, who comes through the night? Sir Led of the peoples republic of Chinnychinchin. Red is his color and small is his heat and lowly is his price (8 frogskins at MannyMoeAndJacks) Plop em in, wire accordingly and behold! Reversing lights that you can see them by and foglights that them can see you by. But of course not useful in non-foggy locales. Sacramento in summer, San Francisco in winter, Tucson all year. BUT for Sacramento in fogtime (winter) this could be the trick. So who among us will leap into the breach? p
