Front right, rear right, front left, rear left.

I hate to admit how long it took me to find this info a couple of years
ago.
Now I have it written on some masking tape near the edge of the engine
compartment.  Had to go look before I could reply to your post.

The firing order is 1 4 3 2 , which I believe is the same for all VW
flat fours.
Easy to remember since it's just reverse order: 4 3 2 1  except starting
with 1.
