Subject:Caro Report: Plgrm's Progress

After spendng 6 days n Jordan - 5 days n Syra - we are now n Turkey.
We vsted MAJOR archeologcal stes n Jordan and Syra - wth only MINOR
van problems (snk trap leak - Odometer stopped - cracked wndscreen - horn
stopped). All but the wndscreen I was able to fx or replace.

In Turkey I started hearng a new engne nose that I ddn't lke and then
coolant began drppng from under the engne. I found that the water pump
pully was wobbly, therefore leakng. I'll hold the full story tll later -
but after dealng wth GREAT guys n a Renault dealer-shp and a bus trp to
Ankara (for a new pump) we are back on the road agan n Cappadoca n
Turkey (Yes I know about bleedng the ar out of the coolant system). In
total the cost was 180,000,000 Turksh Lra (nclusve of bus trps, parts,
and some new VW coolant) and 2 days of our trp.

We wll contnue through Turkey's south-west coast. We have traded the HOT
dry desert ar of Egypt, Jordan, Syra for cooler but more most Turksh
ar: Islamc states for a secular (Islamc) states and sandy tan desert
colour for GREEN hlls and brds and bugs.

We are 16 days nto the trp and lovng t. Wsh you were here (especally
f you had a coolant pump) Malcolm & Pat
