A recent e-mail from David Marshall at Fastforward at least implied that SYNCRO.ORG was disingenuously passing itself off as a non-profit entity and thus was somehow deceiving people. SYNCRO.ORG does not claim anywhere on the site to be non-profit, nor does it pretend to be. However, it's primary mission clearly is not to generate "profits." And no one can seriously or credibly claim that it is. The site is a work of love for syncros and seeks to help preserve the fleet!, link the owners, provide technical resources and even entertainment. Currently, there are only three products that are sold through the site. Custom springs, syncro shocks, and an e-mail link to Derek Drew for info on getting a VC from him. Two years ago, none of these products were available anywhere in the US (except the dealer VCs at $2000 or something absurd). It is entirely consistent with the mission of SYNCRO.ORG to offer such valuable/vital parts at low prices to syncro owners. They help preserve the fleet, they make syncros perform better and more fun, and they are not easy to find elsewhere. More parts/accessories are going to be added to the "Parts" page, but only to the extent consistent with the over-all mission of SYNCRO.ORG, and only as an adjunct to the site. It's primary mission and format will remain unchanged. Besides, doesn't NPR sell coffee mugs and other products to pay its staff/operating costs so it can broadcast its content? They even have some commercials now. And they're still a non-profit. Would you rather have cheap VCs and custom springs, or coffee mugs? steve There are only 3 pages out of the scores of pages and hundreds of links that make up syncro.org that are "commercial." The "Parts" page, the "OME" page and the "Coil Spring" page.
