Driving with the wife today when the front outer
bearing/spindle (sp?) went out.  Luckily, we were on a
deserted back road when it happened. I was able to
shut it down immediately and call for a flatbed.

I've had the van for two months and the PO said the
bearings had just been packed when I bought it
(claimed he did it himself - no receipt). There was
little warning (had noticed a slight intermittent
squeak in the front right of the van).

Had it towed to the local VW Shop. I'll know more on
Monday I guess.  Has anyone ever had this happen to
them?  I'm just glad we weren't cruising on the
highway when it happened.  Interested in your
thoughts.
