INCORRECT. There was some discussion that the engine lid in the SA
Vanagon was higher (and who knows what else is different). Thus because
an engine will fit in a SA Vanagon does NOT necessarily mean it will fit
in a US Vanagon.
Does the SA Vanagon have EXACTLY THE SAME emission controls as the US
Vanagon? If not, is it not possible those may conflict with an SA
engine?
