I've an 83.5 WB westy. after much overheating, I had to have the (cracked)
heads replaced. The thermostat was also replaced. I seem now to have a hard
time keeping the thing warmed up. Takes a fair amount of time to get into a
reasonable range and cools down under low load (eg going down mountain
roads) and even at highway speeds when it is cold out

I live in the central valley of CA - not especially cold. Can anyone tell me
if this is normal and what else to look for if I suspect a faulty thermostat
(staying open)
