Well the "lower ball" as Haynes calls it, on my 85 Westy's shifter has
disintegrated. This makes shifting an adventure. Any ideas on how to replace
it? Obviously I have to disconnect from the shaft to the rear and pull it
out. Can I just replace the lower ball? Do I have to replace the whole
"bearing" with its attendant parts? what must I be careful of? Is this a
dealer only item? Will it ever be spring?
