-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Euro-Engine: FIX 89 Volkswagen SYNCRO, Mechanical, head gasket Date: Tue, 30 Nov 1999 20:00:32 -0800 From: Reply-To: To: ******************************************************* ******************************************************* 1989 Volkswagen SYNCRO 2.1 L Trans: Standard Mileage: 107,000 mi VIN: WV2YB0256KG Affected Item: head gasket ___________________________ FIX: ___________________________ Thanks for all of the responses. The consensus on the labor time was anywhere between seven to nine hours. This job went fairly easy so I charged out 7.5.The cylinder head was in great shape but the face of the block was slightly pitted.I used factory gaskets and head sealer and notified the customer of the pitting. He declined to go any further as he is trading it in.Piece of cake I can't wait to do another. ____________________ ORIGINAL MESSAGE: _____________________ hello, I have this 4 wheel drive VW with a leaking passenger side head gasket. It was replaced 30,000 miles ago at another shop.ALLDATA does not give any labor times on doing this. I am only going to repair the one head as the customer is a little strapped for cash right now.I do have a very good R&R procedure on this so I am fine there. If anyone could help me out on the labor times on this I would very much appreciate it.Also if there are any hints or tricks to job they would be a help also. thanks in advance Robert Plains, Pennsylvania, USA ___________________ TEST AND REPAIR DATA ___________________ RELATED REPAIR HISTORY passenger side head gasket was replaced 30,000 miles ago _______________________________________________________
