Subject:FW: sliding door

I have a '85 Westy and had this problem. My local dealer in Houston (Mahan)
did not want to take any responsibility for the recall. Actually they
denied time after time that it was a recall.

Technically, it has a different name. Like a downgraded "recall", so they
trouble finding it in their system.

Since this happened several time while on the Interstate (and almost lost my
dog!) I raised hell and called VW of American in Auburn Hills and had them
help me beat Mahan over the head.

Eventually they fixed it and passed the bill on to VW of Am.

At the time it was about 150.00 worth of (dealer) parts. Which means about
a 10.00 plate and adjustment. This was in 1992-ish.

Good luck,

Mike
