I’ve had a few 1.9WBX Vanagons and a 2.1 DJ code. The DJ was the best for smoothness and torque. I’ve been driving a 2.0 ABA/1.8 head conversion for the last 7 years. I’ve done a fair amount of wrenching on all those engines. The inline-4 wins it for me. It just keeps going, it’s easy to work on, and parts are cheap-ish. Chris.
