My Vanagons with AC systems, were converted to use R134a quite some time ago. I’m used to having to ‘top off’ the R134a once a year (usualy about when things start getting warm). Had not used my non-GL Vanagon in a while. AC needed topping off, so I bought some R134a and… They freakin' changed the tops to this new fangled self sealing top which isn’t compatible with older gauge sets. (aka the old gauge host couplers are unable to depress the new valve, as they are designed to pierce the top). Gah.
