If you all recall, I had this problem that felt as though the engine was running on 3 cylinders intermittently. I used my ECU Monitor and went through the entire ignition system - inputs to the ECU, ECU output all the way to the plugs. All was well. Still the engine ran rough. Since the problem was intermittent, I reasoned it was not mechanical. The AFM provides an equal air flow to all cylinders,so it wasn't that. So it had to be fuel related. I checked fuel to the injectors with a gauge. It was good - 30 lbs. I pulled the hoses off the fuel rails. Fuel was there. That only left injectors. Following recommendations from the Vanagon List I disconnected the injectors one at a time, found one injector not pulsing properly. Driver side, so I pulled the pair on that side and swapped with my red van which is running really good but has a locked shifter and can't be driven at tne moment. The good injectors did the trick. It idled at 1800 rpm so I disconected idle stabilizer valve and the O2 sensor and adjusted the idle down to 880 rpm per Bentley. I now have a sweet running 2.1 WBX in a Carat. 'Course there are other issues like rewiring the passenger door so the window works. And other stuff. But it runs sweet. Thanks for the help and suggestions along the way. I did all the work myself and for a guy just past a stroke it was an effort, but it was good therapy. Thanks again. John
