Subject:Portland, OR engine rebuilder

Hi all,

A friend did a subaru swap and said he'd give me his 2.1 with a bad head
gasket for a case of beer. Supposedly rebuilt about 70-90k by PO, but no
paperwork. Mine has 175k on the block w/ 50k on the heads. Figured it
could be a good winter project to rebuild the free motor, but leave the
heavy lifting to a local pro. Anyone have good experiences in Portland, OR
getting their block rebuilt? I was intending to tear off all the
accessories, clean it up, and order heads from Go Westy and then hand it
off to somebody to rebuild. Was considering doing a leak-down on the motor
before rebuilding. Maybe swapping the heads will be enough. My regular
shop just gets motors from Go Westy when they have customers needing
rebuilds.

Aside from a shop recommendation, I wanted to get people's thoughts on how
to go about this too.

thanks,
Andrew
