I've had the BFG's on several vehicles. In stock form, they were pretty good on snow and ice, after my first set I started having them siped at the tire dealer. If you are not familiar with the process, they use a machine to make shallow cuts across the tread. When the tires flex, the cuts spread apart, making hundreds of little traction surfaces on the tire. With siped bfg's I had comparable performance to nearly any studded snow tire I have ever run.
