Rocky-
You may pull the dash if you like, and if you need to replace the heater
box, you will need to pull it, but the flap cable can be replaced without
pulling thedahs pretty easily; I've done it twice. You'll need to pull teh
cable control unit, the ashtray, and (at least) fully open the glove box.
Watch out for the Jesus clip holding the end of the cable housing.

Subject: Tips on sealing heater box flaps, and while the dash is out . . .
Gotta pull the dash on Tuesday to replace the cable that operates the
flaps the send air to the driver and passenger feetsies. While the dash
is open, gonna open the heater box and replace the core with a new Behr
one from Van-Cafe. Might as well replace the hot water valve, too.
And take care of the gasketing that help seal the flaps when the flaps
are in the closed position.
Can anyone recommend a good heater-box-flap-gasket-replacement material?
AND, what else is a good idea to take care of while the dash is out?
This is the time to do it!!!!
Many thanks for all the help.
