Tonight I was looking at old pics, travel logs, etc, reminiscing about my living and traveling in Alaska over the years - thinking about such exotic watering holes as Mr. Whitekeys Club in Anchorage, the Red Dog Saloon in Juneau, Malemute Saloon near Fairbanks, Eadies at Kenai, The Blue Goose out Bethel way, the Salty Dawg Saloon on the spit at Homer, and the Bird House Bar near Indian out Turnagain Arm, Sourdough Creek Lodge up near Glenallen - just to name a few. Many of these are gone now, and just fading memories, but the most famous (infamous?)of all I remember was Skinny Dick's Halfway Inn about halfway between Nenana and Fairbanks on the Parks Highway. Last I heard, Skinny sold it some 5-6 years ago, and had since died, but rumors persist, and on the internet there is a lot about the place, some of it even saying Skinny is still living and that the Inn still exists. Hard to tell from the internet just what the truth is. I'm just wondering if any of you Alaska types today know what the status of the old inn actually is.
