They don't just do it to Vanagons. A national chain that shall remain nameless managed to mangle the cladding on the side of my Plymouth van and the lift doesn't even come near the cladding. Snagged it onwho-knows-what and pulled it away. No one fessed up but the manager did at least apologize after I brought it to his attention. Stephen --- On Fri, 1/2/09, John Meeks <vanagon@GMAIL.COM> wrote: From: John Meeks <vanagon@GMAIL.COM> Subject: Re: Busted Cladding Holes???/ To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Date: Friday, January 2, 2009, 9:23 AM On Fri, Jan 2, 2009 at 3:28 AM, Matt Drew <t3vanagon@gmail.com> wrote: > Ok, so the 2 holes at the bottom of the side cladding . . . > > Can ANYONE offer any explanations as to why or how those could get broken? > Matt, This usually happens if riser blocks are not used on the shop's lift arms. The clearance deficit is so small that the clearance will look good to the lift operator, but when it goes up, pressure is put on the cladding. I had this happen at a tire shop once. Bites!
