Those cute little prairie dogs have fleas - and those are the usual culprits. I diagnosed two cases of plague when I lived near the Utah/Arizona border--both cured with antibiotics. One kid had been chasing prairie dogs that were sick with plague. Just wear insect repellant, avoid chasing prairie dogs, and see your doc if you get a 105 fever and a big ole' bubo (swollen lymph gland)! Is it Friday somewhere?
