Jim,
If you do the work yourself I would reuse the
heads if possible. If your paying to have it done I
would get new heads. gary

Subject: amc head repair
Good day all.
My 86 gl automatic has developed leaking heads. This
is a donor motor
with
170k on it that I know of. been getting 16-18 mpg
Has been running fine but has leaking coolant from the
heads.Compression is
good at 125 all around and no oil leaks, just driping
coolant. My
question is
are these serviceable ( not original vw heads) or
should I just bite
the
bullet and replace with new? I have been following
the thread about
replacement
of original heads but would this apply to the
aftermarket amc ones. I
do not
know how old these are.
As a note the donor gave up the ghost from a front end
accident so it
was
striped of vitals.....
