These racks look pretty good from the picture, and may very well be fine. That being said, I work in a bike shop and can tell you that if something breaks, such as a small part, it may ve a nightmare to get, and you could be out a rack, as no bike/ski shop that I know of sells this brand, and if come in asking for a part for an internet rack, you may get a frosty reception (internet/mail order is killing shops) If you can swing it, go for the thule, they have a gigantic parts book with literally everything in there that could ever break or go wrong. And you will always be able to get parts at just about any bike/ski shop. If you just need to carry bikes, look at the Thule Backpack. I have one and am very happy with it. >From: Doug Alcock <doug.alcock@HEWITT.COM> >Reply-To: Doug Alcock <doug.alcock@HEWITT.COM> >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Subject: Re: roof racks >Date: Wed, 7 Jan 2004 08:42:55 -0500 > >Hi Mark, > > I've been eyeing these racks: >http://www.a1-autoracks.com/sproof1.html they're Thule copies and >they're $50 ---- hard to beat, especially when Thule's seem to fall in >the $200 to $300 range. > >Cheers, >Doug > > > > >mark <guruvinnie@YAHOO.COM> >Sent by: "Vanagon Mailing List" <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> >01/06/2004 06:11 PM >Please respond to mark > > > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > cc: > > Subject: roof racks > > > >Are yakima and thule the only roof racks for vanagons? > > >I understand that between thule and yakima, only thule >has a roof rack that is low, for non-westy's... > >Just wondering if there any other options out there. >Thanks. > > > >__________________________________ >Do you Yahoo!? >Yahoo!
