I recently picked up a decent 1985 Vanagon for a good price.  The previous
owner said the cam gear rivets are backing out (is this common?) and the
engine will need a rebuild.  It's got a very noticable wobble/knock.  I'm on
a tight budget and would rather replace the engine with a less fatigued WBX
for the time being.

I'm in Oregon and am willing travel or possibly pay for shipping.  Let me
