The following tires have all been recommended by listers (some from the
Synchro list).  I personally have Kumhos (the 195's); they seem OK, but I
have only had them for about a month.  I don't have any firsthand knowledge
about the other brands.  The brands below are listed in no particular order.

LT195/75R14 93/90 Q  M&S Load Range: C $260
Many people say 93 load range tires are unsafe for Vanagons, but some
listers seem to love these.  Certainly the price is right.

I got a set of 5 for just under $280, mounted & balanced. The guy who bought
them says, "They are almost as good as the Cooper 185's. Tread depth is
12/16" instead of 13/16". Again, I need the torque and off-road ability. You
