folks, i installed a pair of adjustable grey leather headrests in my vanagon tonite, they were from a '86 Merkur Xr4Ti..and they fit great.. now i can actually adjust the headrest to actually support the small of my neck instead of pokin me in the back of the head like the non- adjustable stock vanagon ones.. here is what i did. -remove vanagon headrests (fyi, theyre in perfect shape, grey, and for sale) remove circlip and pull out -remove the black headrest sockets (pry out w/ big flathead screwdriver (make sure the plastic is warm) -take a mat knife and trim off the 2 "keys" or raised plastic ridges that run up and down the shaft of the headrest socket. -re-install the sockets w/ the flat side of the circlips facing eachother. -Merkur Headrest slips right in.. you can now adjust the headrest up and down, as well as forward and backward. simple to do, and no more sore necks on long trips! chris
