Depending on mineral content and PH value you can affect the additives in the coolant, lowering it's protective properties. Also, salts and such are left behind when coolant (water) is lost from the system due to evaporation, etc. Soon you have a very salty engine. Then you'll have to wash it's mouth out with soap. :) TBerk Distilled water in battery? A must. In radiator? Recommended.
