Comments to Paul, not me! -----Original Message----- From: Paul Gilland [mailto:pgilland@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, August 11, 2000 2:20 PM To: Vanagon Mailing List Subject: low power 2.1 Your catalyic converter is probably plugged. After 10 years of use, it is not unusual for a cat converter to become blocked and require replacement. Short trip driving, or a fuel system running rich can aggravate the problem. A plugged converter decreases engine power, sometimes quite dramaticlly. I had a car that was so plugged it would do no more than 15 mph uphill, afte replacement it would zoom up hill at 90 if I wanted to. best of luck, Paul At 05:10 AM 8/8/00 -0700, Richard Ferguson wrote: >Hi Volks, > >I'm wondering why my 85 Westie with the rebuilt 2.1 litre engine with >the ratio rockers and new valves is still so sluggish.
