Hello, I'm new to the list (joined this weekend). I've reached the age where I need to re-live the times of my youth, i.e. get another VW van. Back in the late 70's I had a '72 Transporter (not a camper). Many weekends my college pals and I would head off to the wilds and enjoy the joys of camping. Ever since those days I dreamed of owning a VW camper. For some yet unknown reason I started my search this weekend for a camper. I found the following; - 1984 Vanagon Camper. - 2nd owner. I'd be the third. - 225,000 miles. Make two trips to Alaska. - Some surface rust, no rust thru. - Stove, sink, fridge all working. - Popup fabric in good shape. - Assorted collection of dings and scrapes for a van of this age. - New Tires. - New battery. - New A/C Compressor. - The Bad news...Engine is dead, very dead, like all the oil drained out while driving and engine froze up causing MAJOR damage. Owner is asking $1500 o.b.o. Is this a fair price? If not what would? Mike Barfield barfield@gte.net
